Locations and Emotions -

Including my images from England , i visited Paris and Madrid on a photography trip. Here i discovered the love and romance within these cities.

Romance is defined as a passionate relationship between two people . Romance can rely upon the emotion of love and affection which i hope to show within my images. Above is an image of a dried out red rose i have, red roses symbolise romance and love, however the way it has a black rose in the backround and the rose looks dead and dry, may show how the heartbroken emotion and sadness of romance can be shown.
Below is an image i found on Flickr which also shows how romance and love can be shown as sadness , the black backround and water droplets upon the rose shows how it may hae been thrown away and not looked after. Roses are usually given as a present to represent love but here in these images it shows how the flowers are left to die as they have no significant meaning.

Paris is known for its romantic city the effiel tower is a location that represents the romance of Paris. Below are a few images which convey romance of the city. Below is an image of the effiel tower at night time, the golden lights light up the area around the buliding

Locations and Emotions- England

Newquay-With the images of photographs taken abroad i wanted to include images of pictures i had taken from the summer in England, from past festivals and camping trips.

Some images i have taken is from a festival last summer, Boardmasters, in Newquay, the emotions captured in these images relate to the fun i had, good weather, sitting around a campfire and remembering the memories i had there.

In the photo on the left was a picture i took around the campfire, i really like the red sky in the backround as the sun went down, it shows the relaxed emotions in this candid shot.

the picture on the left is from the same fesitval in Newquay over looking the beach the weather effected everyones emotions around me. This picture is fresh and always reminds me of the hot summer i had in newquay. You can see all the people on the beach enjoying the weather, this shows how weather can effect what happens around us and how the weather makes us feel.

Recently it snowed in my area and exposed many emotions within people. Some people were angry about icey roads and not making it into work, but snow can change the atomasphere completly, its calm and settled way it sets on trees and freezes up ponds like we can see below in my local park . The snow made the park isolated and my emotions felt lonely yet settled.

Teignmouth:

Teignmouth, Devon is famous for its long coastlines and tourists attractions, visiting Teignmouth as a child it brings back many memories of my childhood. Visting recently i took some images that brought back memories of Teignmouth and emotions when i was there. Below is an image i took at sunset on teignmouth beach, as you can see a diver is coming out of the water which brings a sense of adventure within the image. I also like the way the sun shines on the harbour and shadows the old wooden boats.

Jen bryant Photography- Westcountry, South West Devon.
Jen Bryant subject areas including: Devon, coastal, beaches, estuaries, Dartmoor, Exmoor, Ten Tors, Dawns, Sunsets, Trees, villages, towns, Landscapes and Rivers. She enjoys the aspect of how certian locations make you feel when you are there and what emotion influences you to take the picture. For example in a visit to Dartmoor she quotes "Dartmoor is a magical place. I just love to be there whatever the weather. When the light is good it can be out of this world, but it also has a mighty presence when it is bad"
I really like the emotions captured in Bryants images, the way she decribes Dartmoor as magical shows the emotion she feels when taking the images. On a sunny day i feel i could capture scenery which also feels magical when taking the images.

Inspired by Jen Bryants work i decided to visit another location within South West Devon, Haytor, this is a popular site with its signature rocks and stunning scenery , this location was perfect to express the emotion of calmness and fresh atomasphere when over looking devon from the top of the hill. Below are some images of Haytor Rock on a sunny day. The scenery was perfect to capture the open calm atomasphere of Haytor.

Locations and Emotions- Mexico

Any photo of a location can bring an emotion within it. For example a calm seaside scene can be a romantic emotion whereas a dark, eerie woodland can be spookey and scarey. A location can be sentimental to somebody as it may be a specific location they visited when they were younger which brings back childhood memories or a a location can be emotional for somebody. The picture above is an image i took on a holiday in Mexico, i captured many images from this holiday as it had many memories, the calm sunny scenery with the canoes and sunbed on the white sand shows a tranquil emotion. i remember myself having a happy emotion that i was in a sunny place and with my family. Here are some more images from Mexico:

As you can see from the images above the place i visited in Mexico,Puerto Aventuras, was a perfect setting to include some photographs in this project. The clear water and the swaying palm tree's captures the relaxing and happy emotion in these images. Looking back on the pictures reminds me of the undisturbed atomasphere it was in Mexico. Including the calm day time scenery one of my favourite memories from this holiday was the nightlife and entertainment of the Mexican Culture.

Here above are two images from a dance show i saw with my family in Mexico, it included all different aspects of the Mexican culture. I like the way i have captured the movements of the dancers and the ruffles of the feathers in their costumes. These images are fun and exciting and shows the sense of atomasphere that the audience captured in the show. i really like this picture because i can look at the pictures and think of the emotions i had when watching the show.

Anger-

Anger is defined as -a strong emotion; a feeling that is oriented toward some real or supposed grievance.

Gestapo Informer (1945)

In a camp of displaced persons waiting for repatriation, a Gestapo informer who had pretended to be a refugee is discovered and exposed by a camp inmate. The faces are the most striking part of this photo. On them are the judge’s aplomb, the denouncer’s rage, the Gestapo informer’s resignation, and faces of apathy and anger that frame the picture. The picture draws the audience into that anguished circle of the wronged. Had Cartier-Bresson been a painter, these would have been the allegories of Rage and Shame standing before Justice with a Greek chorus in the background. And we are that Greek Chorus. The intimate circle ensured that we share not only Agony, but also Shame and Responsibilities in the Aftermath of a War.
